July 29 at 3:08 pm

Bhangra, Brickfair, Block Parties, County fairs, BBQs, Southern Fried Festival, Kegs and Corks, Wine Camp, Classic Trains, Hot rods, Fiddles…we’ve got something for every taste on funseek. We’re kicking off August literally with Bhangra, the lively Indian folk dance! Check out DJ Rekha at the Black Cat on August 2, 2014. DJ Rekha, the founder of NYC’s long-running Basement Bhangra night, is credited with helping to popularize bhangra here in the US. “But Rekha doesn’t keep things traditional. She mixes bhangra with hip-hop, dancehall, and all kinds of beats.” If you missed the Smithsonian’s first Asia After Dark featuring DJ Rekha, here’s your last chance to get down with her beats this summer.

If you’re in a country state of mind, then head over to one or all of the events below.
